The International Commission on Nomenclature (ICN) has hired you to fight the classification debate. You have been hired as a researcher and your first task is to investigate the defining characteristics of an assigned organism. To do this you must discover all levels of it's scientific name and determine the characteristics that tie it to that particular group.

How are scientists currently classifying your organism?
What is it's cellular makeup; is it unicellular or multicellular, a prokaryote or a eukaryote?
How does the organism obtain energy? Is it autotrophic or heterotrophic?
What habitat would you typically find your organism in?
How does the organism fit into an ecological food web?

Use this worksheet to organize the information you gather on your organism.

The ICN now needs you to bring your expertise to a meeting with other organism experts from your kingdom to discuss the further development of the classification system. There is one problem, the official documents containing the kingdom committee names has been lost!! You and your colleagues must use your knowledge of your organism to determine your kingdom committee. After determining your committee move on to your group task.
